Let’s start with this statement
“Seeing my blood results really helped me make sense of my anxiety, The results showed how many chemical imbalances, I had which was really comforting to know that it wasn’t just “all in my head” – Read more from this in the client testimonials below.
After almost 10 years of testing & working in our FEBS programme the answer is yes. And again this is why we are so passionate about functional testing and its importance and relevance within the mental health context and also wider health conditions.
Unfortunately ‘google’ can throw up some really vast and quite frankly rubbish articles that when searching for ‘anxiety’ and how to reduce its effects the results can be both frightening & completely unfounded. By reading articles that contain headings like ‘take this one vitamin to relieve your anxiety’ in most cases is nonsense. Logically speaking without knowing the cause of your anxiety how can an article advise you on what to take?
At The Nadura Clinic by combing both functional testing with 19 years clinical experience within the mental field. We offer our clients the option of clinically testing their blood, stool and/or urine in order to pinpoint these biochemical imbalances. The imbalances that can be majorly implicated in their anxiety and its manifestation.
Our mental health programme utilises our Nadura F.E.B.S (functional epigenetic and biochemical screen) profile blood test. The bloods are taken through our GP at the Beacon Court Private Clinic and then delivered to the lab at Eurofins and from there, they are transported direct to Chicago for specific analysis. Results are returned our clinicians who then formulate a protocol based on each clients presentation symptoms and actual lab results.
For example, if we take one specific biochemical imbalance “undermethylation” as a discussion topic.
Undermethylation can cause lower levels of serotonin, dopamine & noradrenaline in the system. This is typically due to a faster reuptake of these specific neurotransmitters at the nerve synapse (the junction where nerves meet) within the brain.
Specific symptoms of this imbalance are typically:
- High inner tension
- OCD
- Anxiety (not obvious to others)
- Competitive (sports, career, family etc)
- Highly motivated
- High achievers (personally & family)
- Perfectionists
- Addictive tendencies
- Very stubborn
- Defiant
- Regular headaches
- Phobias
- Depression
- Rumination of past events
- Seasonal allergies (hayfever etc)
- Quiet & ‘deep’ appearance
Please note that this is just one imbalance for discussion purposes only.
Once an imbalance has been identified we see the very first benefit to help the client is the actual scientific understanding or potential causative factor. Quite often this gives new hope and a little more control and understanding back to the client, once we begin the use of targeted nutraceuticals to support these imbalances. These changes can really have a profound effect on the levels of both anxiety and depression in this specific subset of people. Once levels have been adjusted through advanced nutrient therapy (The fantastic work of Dr William Walsh of the Walsh Research Institute in Chicago, USA by whom we have been trained) the clients in the majority of cases see a distinct improvement and have their bloods tested annually with our practitioners to ensure symptoms and ranges are maintained.
Instead of throwing more money at unfounded theories on google, why not actually test and not guess? You wouldn’t google what lense strength to use in your frames without having your eyes tested by an optician, so why treat your mental health any differently? TEST…….

I first went to see Anita in March 2019, about my General Anxiety Disorder. After spending years trying to find a solution to my suffering, I was desperate to find something that was going to help. I really was at my lowest point and had no idea that the Nutrient Therapy Anita was able to provide me with was going to be the catalyst in aiding my recovery. The impact that my targeted protocol has had on my life over the last 9-10 months has been revolutionary.
I was a bit sceptical at first, however Anita was really good at taking me through the process step by step. Distance was no barrier; our one to one session was conducted via skype and I travelled to Dublin from Glasgow on two occasions to get my blood work done (a return flight was less than £40 and the clinic was an easy commute by bus from the airport).
Having completed a full assessment of my history through childhood experience and trauma, I felt Anita was really able to understand me as a person.
Seeing my blood results really helped me make sense of my anxiety, as the results showed how many chemical imbalances, I had which was really comforting to know that it wasn’t just “all in my head”. To see that these imbalances were actually having a significant impact on my health and wellbeing and consequently, my ability to function was a huge relief. I no longer felt alone in what I was experiencing, and for the first time in my life I had hope that I would be able to recover.
I would say my recovery is an ongoing journey, and that improvements regarding my mental health have been gradual but I was fully prepared for this as Anita had explained to me that my methylation status could take some time to balance out.
It was really around the 9-month mark, that I started to see a significant difference in my everyday functioning. I no longer worry about really trivial things, and most of the time, if I experience an unpleasant thought/ if something is seen to trigger my anxiety, I can let it go a lot quicker without the intrusive thoughts and rumination I used to experience which previously, had left me totally exhausted. My sleep has improved dramatically, and I feel my cognitive functioning is a lot clearer.
From having a complete nervous breakdown leaving school 2 years ago, having felt like a total failure, my life has completely changed.
9 months down the line, I have been able to go back to University to study full time as well as hold down a part- time job.
For the first time in a very long time, I actually feel happy with my life, proud of the person that I am becoming, and incredibly grateful for my mum’s support in seeking Nutrient Balancing through a Walsh Trained Practitioner.
It’s the best investment I have ever made, and I now feel hopeful for my future.
Anita’s work is amazing, and I can’t thank her enough.

I was recommended to Anita by her colleague Lee who I was dealing with on sports nutrition due to my ailments of high stress, anxiety, addiction problems, low immune system and low energy. Anita suggested I do the FEBS protocol blood tests, which turned up high copper and histamine levels. She started me on a specific nutrient programme to balance out the problem. I have never really looked back from there. Stomach problems which I had for years cleared up in weeks, year and a half on with twice yearly testing and slight adjustments here and there with the nutrients, energy levels highly improved, anxiety highly improved, natural drop in weight and I was able to quit alcohol which I put down to less addiction problems now. I haven’t had even a slight cold; my immune system is rock solid. I can’t thank Anita and Lee enough. I highly recommend for bringing mental and physical health to a new level.

I am a 30-year-old male. In October 2017 I was diagnosed with depression. At first, I was given the option of anti-depressants but was reluctant to go down that route. I was recommended by a friend to try Nadura and more specifically Anita. As soon as I attended Nadura I felt immediately confident in Anita’s ability and was assured of questions I had about the methods of treatment. The detailed questionnaire formed the basis of getting to the route of the problem. Anita recommended that I have specific blood panel tests and she explained to me that the way I was feeling wasn’t my fault that there may be very prominent biochemical imbalances that may be making me feel like this and that lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. This provided the reassurance I needed at that time and was invaluable as I did not know exactly what was wrong to make me feel the way I did for the last 11 years.
Once the blood tests were complete Anita set about a course of action to deal with the chemical imbalance. The method chosen was by way of natural supplements instead of the pre-suggested route of anti-depressants as suggested by another medical professional. The plan was natural supplements to balance the chemicals in my body and to restore some order to my life.
I can honestly say it has changed my life an am eternally grateful for the expertise of Anita in achieving so. If you are suffering from depression this is the only route to take in my opinion.
